Some say to work, travel, play or raise a family. Some say they were created to be happy or to make others happy. While none of these are in and of themselves wrong, if that is all there is then in the words of Solomon, “this too is vanity” (Ecclesiastes 2:23). The Bible says that you were created to “give glory to God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). Yet by nature each and every person is in rebellion of God (Genesis 6:5). It is appointed once to die and then the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). Ever told a lie? Stolen anything? Hated someone? Jesus calls hatred murder! Ever looked with lust? Jesus calls lust adultery. Will you be innocent or guilty? Should God send you to Heaven or Hell?Your sin has not glorified God. Yet, 2,000 years ago, God sent his son, Jesus to pay for your sin. Jesus, being fully man and fully God, was able to live a perfect life, fulfill the Law and willingly die for the sin of the whole world. He rose from the dead, just like he said he would thereby defeating sin, death and the devil. God commands all men everywhere to repent and believe the Gospel (Acts 17:30, Mark 1:15).
