Lately the peace sign seems to just mean that everyone should get along. Often when someone dies the term RIP is used for Rest in Peace. Is that really possible? The Bible says that every person is born as an enemy of God (Romans 5:10).  If we are enemies of God, then our greatest need is to be made at peace with God. This is what the Bible calls peace. Test yourself to see if you have peace with God. Hebrews 9:27 says that when a person dies they are judged by the Ten Commandments. Have you every told a lie? Stolen anything? Hated someone? Jesus calls hatred murder. Looked with lust? Jesus calls lust adultery. By this standard, The Ten Commandments, will you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? God does not want you to go to Hell (2 Peter 3:9). Two thousand years ago God sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Jesus, being fully God and fully man lived a perfect life and fulfilled God’s Law. He willingly became the only acceptable sacrifice for your sin. Jesus made “peace by the blood of his cross” (Colossians 1:20). He rose from the dead defeating sin and death. If you will repent of your sin and trust in Jesus alone, you will have eternal life (Mark 1:15, John 3:36).
