Story of the Movie Preview Tract

The June mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club has a new tract for all the movie goers that you know. We’ve been praying about an idea for a tract to hand out at movie theaters for awhile now. We had toyed with the idea of making a tract that looked like a movie ticket. Then one day while at the movies with my wife, God gave me the idea for this tract to look like a movie preview on the front and to be a preview of judgment on the back! I don’t go to a lot of movies. But I did go to a movie a few weeks ago. I was handing these tracts out inside the theater to all of the employees and a number of the movie goers. In many cases, I’d just tell them “have you check out this preview” and hand them the tract.

There are a coupe of movie theaters nearby where the theater is on a public street. We plan to take these tracts there soon. We pray that you will be able to use the movie preview tract to reach the movie goers that you know with the Gospel!

The story of the Got Peace tract

A couple of months ago, my friend Todd said to me while we were out witnessing, “have you noticed that the peace sign seems to be making a come

Farmers Market

back?” As we stood on a college campus witnessing there must have been 5-10 kids walk by within an hour with peace t-shirts. In the coming days after that, peace signs were seemingly everywhere. T-shirts, bumper stickers and even signs on the side of the road. A google images search for “peace t-shirt” yields nearly 8.5 MILLION responses. Even when I went to the Farmers Market with my wife, there were people there selling items with peace signs on them.

As Todd and I continued to discuss this, I suggested that he write something up and then we would turn it into a tract. Here is what he sent me:

Have you noticed lately that the peace sign is making a comeback? I really don’t know the history on how that sign became a symbol for peace but I can tell you that it is representative of no peace at all. I would assume that it is man’s idea of peace. However, man in and of himself does not possess the capacity for peace because we are inherently not peace makers, neither do we inherently have peace with God. To the contrary we are born as enemies to God. Romans 5:10, Colossians 1:21. We have inherited the sin of Adam (Romans 5:12). Therefore, we are readily equipped for everything but peace. We are naturally equipped for the out-workings of our normal and familiar tendencies. Iniquity, transgression, sin. Jn: 2:24,25 “But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and He had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man. ” What was it that He knew of men? He knows how utterly corrupted that we are. The passages on this subject are endless from scripture. Here are a few Genesis 6:5, Jeremiah 17:9,10, Romans 3:10, Isaiah 48:8. Our hearts are utterly corrupted without Christ!

I made another observation about the peace sign. It appears to be an altered cross. It has a vertical component to it, but what would represent the horizontal beam on a cross has been shifted and angled downward on each side. Maybe this is symbolic of the fact that man has always attempted to side-step the cross of Christ and deceived himself with the notion that he could manufacture his own peace. This idea is utter nonsense and an impossibility. In our sinfulness, we truly do not want to acknowledge the cross of Christ. We would do anything to avoid the real significance of it as it pertains to God in regards to His plan for the redemption of mankind. Now, many people may wear a cross or decorate their homes with crosses, etc.. But this typically means nothing. However, when we really understand the importance of the cross as it relates to God’s sacrificial Lamb, Jesus – then we must come to terms with the Christ of the cross and we cannot remain neutral. I am convinced that mankind is keenly aware that the cross forces us to come to terms with the Christ of the cross. We know that if we acknowledge the Christ of the cross, then we will have to forsake our sin and submit our lives to Him. This idea is in total opposition to our sinful humanity. See: 1st Corinthians 1:18, John 3:16-21.

Nevertheless, when one turns to the Lord in repentance & faith, the cross that was once so offensive becomes the most beautiful of instruments in the hands of our sovereign God! The cross was God’s perfect altar where God’s perfect sacrifice, (Jesus) made our peace with God possible. It was the most crude & vile instrument of torture and death known to man. And yet, it was the instrument that God chose to reconcile man unto himself. When I think of Christ Jesus on the cross, I think of the vertical beam reaching up to heaven where Jesus became the Father’s peace offering on our behalf. As I think about the Lord’s hands outstretched on the horizontal plane, I think of Jesus’ arms wide open to any man or woman who would receive the peace(reconciliation) that He has provided on our behalf so that we can be made at peace with God. What a beautiful picture. He is the only means for our peace with God and the peace that we now experience as believer’s is the by-product of our peace or reconciliation with God. (A) Colossians 1:20, 21 having made peace through the blood of His cross. And you who were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled.” (B) “These things I have spoken to you that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.” Thus (A) Peace with God = (B) personal peace for those who are in Christ. This gives real meaning to that slogan. “No God, no peace – know God, know peace”

We took this article and then edited it down to fit the gist of the message on the back of a business card. Yes! Obviously, we had to remove a lot of text!

The Got Peace tract has been shipped with the May (2011) mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club. I’ve had the opportunity to hand them out for the last couple of months now. Here are some ideas on how to hand them out and some examples of what happened:

  • See someone in a peace t-shirt and hand them one of these tracts. You can say something like, “here is an explanation of peace”
  • Just ask people “got peace”
  • Or hand them the tract and say “here is some peace”
  • When I see someone in a peace shirt I’ll say something like, “everyone with a peace t-shirt gets one of these”

Most people that I’ve handed these tract too, have no idea of the real meaning of peace that comes from Christ’s blood shed on the cross. But, I did have an encouraging exchange this week when I Handed the tract to a gal and asked, “got peace?”

She replied, “yep.”

“Where did you get it”, I asked.

“From God!”

We had a brief conversation and I found she is a believer in Jesus!

Above all, when handing the tract, don’t deceive people. If they ask what it is, simply tell them it is a Gospel tract. We pray that this tract will be used to share the Gospel with many people and that people will come to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. If you need more of these tracts, they can be ordered in quantities of 250 or more.

The Story of the Baseball Trivia tract

Tracts are fun ways to break the ice and start into a spiritual conversation. We have found that trivia tracts makes this really easy. Sports fans love to show how “smart” they are by knowing every piece of trivia there is to know about their team and the sport that they follow. By asking a few questions about their favorite team or sport gets the person talking. Then when we get to the last question we ask them about death opening the door for a spiritual conversation.

This tract was designed for the tract club and included in the April mailing in time for Major League Baseball season. It was also used at some of the outreaches for the MLB Outreach sites at the beginning of the season.

If you are planning an outreach for a baseball game, the baseball trivia tract makes a good choice. You can custom over these tracts for your own team.

In addition to the baseball trivia tract, we have also recently released hockey trivia and basketball trivia tracts as well. Again, these designs can be customized for any team. The current versions are for the Dallas Stars and Mavericks respectively and have been handed out at several outreaches this spring.

The story of the Hoppy Easter Tract

Seems like every year at Easter time there is a long line at every mall to see the Easter Bunny. It is as if people think that the Easter Bunny is what Easter is actually about. My friend and I often have joked about this in the past saying that we should wish people “Hoppy Easter.” The last couple years we talked about how it would make a good Gospel tract. This year, I decided to make the tract. Amazingly when I searched online on google for “hoppy easter” I found the image that we ended up using on the tract and it even said “Hoppy Easter” on it. The picture was royalty free, so we decided to use it for the tract.

Here is a good story that you can use to talk to people about Easter. The best egg is an empty egg! You see when people do Easter egg hunts, they often put candy, money or toys inside the eggs. The kids love to find these and gather what is inside. However, when the egg is empty, it reminds us that the tomb was empty on Easter Sunday as well. That is the message of Easter. An empty tomb because He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed.

The Hoppy Easter tracts are in the April mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club.

The story of the What’s Next tract

A few months ago Tract Club member Chad Matthews sent me a proof of a tract that he had designed. On the front is the simple question, “What’s Next?” He gave me permission to print these tracts and put them into the Bezeugen Tract Club. I am pleased to announce today that these tracts have shipped with the March mailing of the club. Many thanks to Chad for making these tracts available.

I’ve been practicing handing them out. They are very attractive and popular. One way to hand them out is while in a conversation talking to someone about what they are doing, eventually get to a point where you can say, “What’s Next” and then hand them the tract!

We pray that you will enjoy using the What’s Next tract.

The story of the Are You a Good Person tract

I am thankful for Cedric Studios producing the Are You A Good Person comic tract as well as the video versions of the tract. These tracts have been very useful in sharing the Gospel. Recently, we adapted the Good Card tract that we had to utilize the basis of the Are You a Good Person comic and refer people to a link on the web site with the video on the web site. The new tract is shipping in the March mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club. We hope you will enjoy handing out the new Are You a Good person tract!

These tracts are fun to hand out while using the Living Waters Lie Detector. It is like the ultimate portable lie detector that they can take with them when the one on one is done!

The new tract and a Spanish version will also be available for purchase from One Million Tracts.

Story of the QR Code tract

These days, QR Codes are all around us. These codes can be scanned with an application on a smartphone. Walk into Best Buy or another electronics store these days and you’ll see these QR Codes on the tags on the shelf for nearly every product. Some products even have the code on the box. We’ve seen these codes show up in the newspaper, on t-shirts and even on billboards.

Back of QR Code tract

When scanned with an app on the smart phone, the app interprets the QR Code and then generally forwards the user to a web site. We created this tract to give to the geeks that you meet. We expect it to be popular on college campuses, in electronic stores or anywhere else that geeks are found. Because we are not limited to the size of a business card, the online Gospel message is much expanded over what is on the tracts otherwise.

The idea for this tract originated when Tom Burgee or Just Truth posted a QR Code on Facebook one night that lead to a Gospel presentation. He and I got to talking about how we thought it would make a neat idea for a tract. So we proceeded with the project.

Story of the Where will you be tract

I love to ask people questions when sharing the Gospel with them. One of my favorite questions is “where will you be 100 years from now?” This really gets people thinking about their own mortality and eternity. Most people will readily admit that 100 years from now they will be dead. So the obvious questions is what happens when you die.

At sporting events or around big events, it is fun to ask people “who do you think will win the game?” People love to give their opinion about that. And until the game is played, the answer can be debated endlessly. Once the discussion is started, I like to follow with “do you think anyone will care who won in 100 years?” Again, I get lot’s of opinions. Some say “yes of course.” Others say “no.” Then the follow-on question is “Where will you be in 100 years from now?”

Well, that is the background of this tract. The tract asks the question even if you are not able too. In experimenting with this tract, I’d just hand it to people and say “here is an interesting question to ponder.” They would take it and say thanks. Or you can have the conversation with someone first and then hand them the tract as a reminder.

We pray that the “Where will you be 100 years from now” tract will help you have one on one conversations and lead people to consider their eternal destiny. Above all we pray that the tract will glorify God and lead people to repent and trust in Christ alone for their salvation.
