A few months ago I was asked about doing an outreach at the State Fair of Texas. After praying about it, I decided to create a Gospel tract for the event. Since the Texas State Fair is the self proclaimed “Fried food capital of Texas” we decided to do a tract which said “Can you name ten things fried at the fair” on the front. The back of the card listed ten things and then had a message on the that included the Law and the Gospel. This would allow conversations to start with naming ten things and then swing to the spiritual by asking people to name the Ten Commandments.
Once the tract was developed, we incorrectly assumed that it could be of general use at fairs all around the country and therefore we included them in the September Bezeugen Tract Club mailing.
While we hold Jesus Christ and the crucifixion in the utmost and highest regard and respect, there was one line on the tract that several people pointed out both privately and publicly that was disrespectful to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.
Because of this, we are “recalling” this tract.
While it is impractical to actually retrieve each of these tracts from those that we sent them too, we are asking that you would honor our request by simply disposing of these “fried at the fair” tracts and not distributing any more of them. We are truly sorry to have offended anyone by the message on this tract. Our only intent is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost and bring glory to God alone.
If you have any questions, please contact Bezeugen Ministries.

I am so gald that you have recalled these tracks. I was so supprised to see the wording of Christ. being fried. I am sure that no harm was intended and we all make bad choices but I am gald that other brother and sisters had brought this to your attention and you have seen the problem with this choice of words. When a brother falls we are to get them back on the right track. Thank you for removing them.
Darlene – Thanks for your support and encouragement.
I praise God for your humility in apologizing and recalling the tracts. What a joy it is to see brothers in Christ who want to exalt the Lord rather than themselves. “Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!” Psalm 115:1.
Thanks, Jeff! To God be the glory!
Carl, thanks for the quick recall and retraction, and apology. I’m grateful to those who noticed what we should have caught, but didn’t. We at the Tract Club “proofreading department” will be more careful… we ask the Lord to forgive us, and seek club members’ forgiveness for this mistake. We want to “correctly handle the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15), at all times. That’s why prayer support is so important!
Nita – I appreciate all you do for us. Your efforts to count tracts, stuff envelopes, pray, etc mean so much to us. Thanks!
I was told about the tract by someone concerned about it’s wording. I could see the reason for their concern, but assumed (from the content of your website) that your hearts were right and that your intentions good. Your humility in recalling these tracts is encouraging. I could easily see how others may have been offended when someone complained about their tract. Thank you for your ministry. May your obedience and faithfulness never wane.
Thanks, J! I appreciate your support and encouragement. We certainly never intended anything negative, but wanted to clear this up anyway.
I must admit that this was one tract that I had not yet distributed because I thought the wording was a bit unusual. Thanks for your note above. Your humility in apologizing and recalling the tracts is very admirable Carl. Take care and God bless !!
Thanks for your support and understanding!
Hey there,
Thanks for all the tracts. I did not know how I was going to distribute the 10 things at a fair tract, until an Indian Fair I went to yesterday, we distributed all of them. When I came home, I received my new supply with the recall inside. Ha! I gor “rid” of all of them but they are in people’s hands now. With the exception of one. A man that had on the famous t-shirt the Lord’s gym, the sin of the world bench press this, ripped one in pieces after I followed up with him, telling him to pray for Glen Beck (he had a Glen Beck hat on) because Glen was a Mormon. I wish I would have given him the white tract that says if you reject Jesus Christ….
Phil – thanks for your faithfulness to get the tracts out! I appreciate you sharing your experiences. To God be the Glory!!
